Privacy Policy

Effective as of 7/26/2020

Activecove deeply cares about your personal information and how it is being used and shared. We have a high bar and take your privacy seriously. Please read the following to learn more about our Privacy Policy. By using or accessing our Services in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy, and you hereby consent that we will collect, use, and share your information in the following ways.

What's covered by the Privacy Policy?

This Privacy Policy covers how we treat personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) that activecove and its services gather when you are interacting with our offerings. However it won't cover the practices of companies we don’t control/own, or people who are not part of activecove as an organization. We limit the gathering of any type of Personal Information from users, as explained in more detail below, to a need-to-know basis for activecove to provide its service's user experiences. We may choose to use this Personal Information internally for our services to allow personalization, delivery of service, and make improvments to our services, to allow users to set up personal user accounts and profiles, to contact users and allow other users to contact each other, to fulfill requests for activecove's products and services, and to understand how users use the services. In certain cases, we may chose to share Personal Information with third parties, but only as described below.

Will activecove ever choose to change this Privacy Policy?

Yes. As part of making constant improvments to our services we may need to adapt this Privacy Policy over time, but we will alert you to changes by placing notices on activecove's websites and points of distribution, by sending users emails, and/or by other means of communication. Please note that if you have chosen not to receive legal notice emails from us (or chose to not share your personal email address with activecove), those legal notices will still govern the use of activecove's services, and users are still responsible for reading and understanding them. If you continue to use the services after changes to the Privacy Policy have been posted, that means you agree to all of the changes. The use of information collected now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected.

What information does activecove collect?

Information Provided to activecove:

We receive and store any information you knowingly provide to us. Currently we provide a feedback feature that will allow you to send us a message, optionally specifying your email address. You could choose to share any other way for us to contact you. All opt-in; none is required.

We may communicate with you if you’ve provided us the means to do so. For example, if you’ve given us your email address, we may reach out to ask questions or send you promotional email offers. We may receive a confirmation when you open an email from us. This confirmation helps us communicate more effectively and improve our services. If you do not want to receive any further communications from activecove, please let us know by emailing info@activecove.com.

Information Collected Automatically

We currently do not record any persopnal information about you unless it's provided to us explicitly (e.g. feedback) as part of our services. While activecove's Marquee is using industry standard web technologies to deliver its UX it is a self-contained application that executes on users' devices. Marquee makes use of geo location information based on IP address and aggregates various forms of news and entertainment information which Marquee retrieves from online feeds. Geolocation as well as information about requests' origins are being aggregated (no personal information whatsoever) with the sole purpose to gain insights about how Marquee is being used to continuously improve the application experience. Relevant data and aggregated reports are being stored in secure datastores with multi-factor authenication only accessible to activecove staff. Marquee does not share or upload any personal information gathered as part of running on a user's device. Marquee will respect privacy settings (e.g. VS Code's telemtry choices in settings) for collecting anonymous request information such as session cookies, origin IP addresses, VS Code machine identifiers, etc. Currently Marquee might choose to collect the following properties containing no personal information (respects VS Code telemery settings telemetry.enableTelemetry) as part of delivering the Marquee experience:

  • extension name
  • extension version
  • machine ID and session ID from VS Code
  • operating system
  • platform version
  • origin IP address
  • reverse geolocation based on IP
  • custom events associated with actions (no personal information)

The collection of information works analogous to Microsoft's best practices as showcased in vscode-extension-telemetry.

Whenever you interact with our web properties (https://marquee.activecove.com/ or https://activecove.com/), we may chose to automatically record information on our server logs from your browser or device, which may include your IP address, geolocation data, device identification, “cookie” information, the type of browser and/or device you’re using to access our services, and the pages or features you requested. “Cookies” are identifiers we transfer to your browser or device that allow us to recognize your browser or device and tell us how and when pages and features in our Services are visited and by how many people. You may be able to change the preferences on your browser or device to prevent or limit your device’s acceptance of cookies, but this may prevent you from taking advantage of some of our features. Please note that using Marquee currently requires no interaction with activecove's web properties.

Will activecove Share Any of the Personal Information it Receives?
